KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Colba, we are committed to providing a secure and responsible gaming environment for all our players. Verifying your identity is a fundamental part of this commitment. It allows us to comply with stringent regulatory requirements, prevent fraud, and ensure that our platform is used fairly and legally. This process is designed to protect both you and Colba from illicit activities, including underage gambling, money laundering, and identity theft. By understanding and cooperating with our verification procedures, you help us maintain the integrity and safety of our community.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, is a standard regulatory requirement for financial institutions and online gaming operators like Colba. It involves collecting and verifying personal information from our customers to confirm their identity. This process is crucial for assessing potential risks, such as financial crime, and for ensuring that we are operating within the legal frameworks of all relevant jurisdictions. KYC is not merely a formality, it is a critical safeguard that underpins the trust and security of our services.

When Verification Is Required

Verification is an ongoing process at Colba, triggered at various stages of your account lifecycle. It is typically required:

  • Upon registration of a new account.
  • Before your first withdrawal, or when cumulative withdrawals reach a certain threshold.
  • When there are changes to your personal information.
  • If your account activity is deemed unusual or suspicious.
  • Periodically, as part of our ongoing due diligence, even if no specific trigger event occurs.
  • When you deposit or withdraw using new payment methods.

Colba reserves the right to request verification documents at any time to ensure compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete our verification procedures, you may be asked to provide several types of documents. These documents help us confirm your identity, address, and ownership of payment methods. All submitted documents must be valid, current, and clearly legible. We may request copies of original documents, or in some cases, live verification through video call.

Proof of Identity

To confirm your identity, Colba typically requires one of the following government-issued identification documents:

  • Passport: A clear, full-page copy showing your photograph, full name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, signature, and the document's expiry date.
  • National Identity Card: A clear copy of both the front and back of the card, showing all relevant details as listed for a passport.
  • Driver's License: A clear copy of both the front and back of the license, displaying your photograph, full name, date of birth, and expiry date.

The document must be valid and not expired. All four corners of the document must be visible in the image.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we require a document issued within the last three months that clearly displays your full name and current address. Accepted documents include:

  • Utility bill (e.g., electricity, water, gas, internet, landline phone bill). Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted.
  • Bank statement or credit card statement.
  • Government-issued tax assessment or correspondence.
  • Rental agreement (valid and dated within the last 3 months).

The document must be dated within the last 90 days, clearly show the issuer's logo, your full name, and your residential address. Post office box addresses are not accepted as proof of residence.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the security of your transactions and prevent unauthorized use, Colba requires verification of the payment methods you use. The specific documents required depend on the payment method:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: A clear copy of the front and back of the card. For security, please obscure the middle eight digits of the card number on the front and the CVV/CVC code on the back. Your name, the first six and last four digits of the card number, and the expiry date must be visible.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): A screenshot of your e-wallet account page showing your registered name and the email address or account ID linked to the e-wallet.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a recent bank statement (dated within the last 90 days) showing your name, bank logo, account number, and recent transactions to or from Colba.

The name on the payment method must match the name registered on your Colba account.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly for larger transactions or if regulatory requirements mandate it, Colba may request information regarding your Source of Funds (SoF) or Source of Wealth (SoW). This is part of our Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) process, designed to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. We may ask for documents such as:

  • Payslips or employment contracts.
  • Bank statements showing accumulated wealth.
  • Proof of inheritance or property sale.
  • Financial statements from a business.

This information is handled with the utmost confidentiality and is used solely for compliance purposes. Our aim is to understand the legitimate origin of the funds used on our platform.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents, our dedicated verification team will review them. We strive to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. Standard verification typically takes between 24 to 72 hours, though this can vary depending on the volume of requests and the clarity of the documents provided. You will be notified via email or through your Colba account once your verification is complete, or if additional information is required. Please ensure that all submitted documents are clear, complete, and meet our specified requirements to avoid delays.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Colba treats your personal data and submitted documents with the highest level of security and confidentiality. All information is encrypted and stored in secure systems, accessible only by authorized personnel. We adhere strictly to data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring your privacy rights are respected. Your documents will not be shared with third parties except where legally required by our licensing authority or other regulatory bodies. For more details on how we protect your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Colba is legally obligated to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations. Our KYC and verification procedures are integral to this compliance. By verifying our players' identities and monitoring transactions, we actively work to prevent our platform from being used for illegal activities. We report suspicious transactions to the relevant authorities, as required by law. This commitment protects our operations and contributes to a safer financial ecosystem globally.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Underage gambling is strictly prohibited at Colba. Our verification processes are designed to confirm that all our players are at least 18 years old, or the legal age for gambling in their respective jurisdiction, whichever is higher. We take this responsibility very seriously and employ robust age verification checks. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately closed, and any winnings forfeited. We encourage parents and guardians to use parental control software to prevent minors from accessing gambling sites.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

If your verification is delayed, it usually means we require further clarification or additional documents. We will contact you with specific instructions. If verification is ultimately unsuccessful, it could be due to several reasons, such as invalid or fraudulent documents, inconsistencies in provided information, or an inability to confirm your identity or address. In such cases, your account may be restricted or closed, and any funds may be held until the issue is resolved, or returned in accordance with our terms and conditions and regulatory obligations. We will always communicate the reasons for an unsuccessful verification, where legally permitted.
